Daftar Hotel - Zodiak Entertainment has opened an office in Bogota, Colombia, and hired a former Endemol Andino and Canal Caracol executive to run it, the firm has announced on day two of MipTV.
Hotel Murah di Bandung Juan Maldonado, described by Zodiak as "one of Colombia’s most experienced and prolific producers," will head the operation as MD, with Zodiak's Miami-based company RM 5to Elemento also behind the new unit.
Maldonado was MD of Endemol Andino for four years, producing and selling formats such as Big Brother and Deal or No Deal. He has also held senior positions at Grupo Planeta, RTI Television, Canal Caracol and Canal RCN. Most recently, Maldonado produced the Talpa Content format Dating in the Dark for RCN, which will premiere on the channel this spring.
“Opening an office in Bogota was a natural next step for us after entering the Latin American TV market last year," said Simon Junker, VP of Latin America at Zodiak Entertainment and CEO RM 5to Elemento.
"Colombia has a thriving television industry with some very strong drivers including the imminent implementation of digitisation and the awarding of a new broadcast licence in the coming months."
